About

Liam Wright is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter hailing from Canberra, now based in Melbourne. His guitar skills and unique vocals are a reminiscent mash up of folk and rock. His live performances are filled with raw emotion, all whilst encouraging a head bob or two with smooth guitar hooks and catchy melodies.

Influenced by some of the greats like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen etc… Liam strives to take his songs to another level with his dreamy story telling. In 2021 he released his second EP “Time Will Tell”, a small collection of songs about love and heartbreak which you can listen to on all streaming services.

The Triple J Unearthed artist  has been described by the music tastemakers at Happy Mag as: "With a brooding and soulful folk tone, Wright is walking in the footsteps of Australian folk greats Angus Stone and Lisa Mitchell. With a lyrical maturity that by no means reflects his eighteen years, this Canberra boy is on his way to big things."

Through his music, Liam has supported Australian artists Kim Churchill, Iluka and Shaun Kirk and entertained festival crowds at Groovin' the Moo and The Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival. He’s also taken stage at institutions like the Wesley Anne (Northcote), Spring Street Social (Bondi), The Phoenix (Canberra), Street Theatre (Canberra), The Milk Factory (Brisbane) and Sappho Books & Bar (Glebe).

Whilst recording through 2017/18, Liam played over 75 gigs whilst releasing his EP, Castaway, along with singles The Lighthouse and Younger. The first few years of his music career were spent busking and travelling along the East Coast of Australia, playing at pubs all over regional NSW, VIC & QLD.

Liam has opened up a new chapter in his music by moving to Melbourne. Playing shows and working on new music the future holds some exciting opportunities in sight.
